Birther BS

Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution:

"No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States."

I am really getting tired of all the media coverage about "birthers". This whole notion that Barack Obama was not born in the United States is folly. Beyond that, it takes away from the dialogue that we should be having about Obamacare, Cap 'n Trade, and further government bailouts. I could go on with the list, but you get the idea.

This one item about Barack Obama's birth sealed it for me. And I saw this several months ago, so it's not like it just came out. This is what appeared in the Honolulu Advertiser in August, 1961, shortly after Obama's birth:

Bloggers and the media needs to quit wasting their precious time on nonsense! Update: Read what American Thinker has to say.

How about chasing a new "meme", like "schoolers"? I'd much rather see an effort put forth to disclose Obama's academic records. I think those would be much more revealing!

  1. But we aren't supposed to be deciding these things via the blogosphere and Twitter. The Senate needs to pass a resolution. There was a question about McCain's eligibility and the Senate passed a resolution to remove doubt.......but did not do so for Obama, and now look at the mess we're in. People are up in arms about this. You think you blog post is going to convince someone in the age of photoshop? The Senate needs to pass a resolution and we can be done with it. That's how America is supposed to work. They did it for McCain. They should do it for Obama, too.

  2. The only problem with starting a "schooler" movement is that you'd run into existing legislation: Google for FERPA.

It's the same problem the birthers are having with medical records: they're protected under HIPAA.

(Who makes up these goofy acronyms?)

  3. It does not matter if Obama was born in Hawaii, Kenya,Indonesa,or the blue room of the whitehouse, he is not a natural born citizen. Article II Section I.
Natural born means you have to have 2 Parents that are citizens of U.S. and born on U.S. mainland.
Citizen is 1 parent U.S. citizen and born on U.S. mainland
Native born is no parents U.S. citizen but born on U.S. mainland.
Natural born = 2 parents must be U.S. citizens
Obama father was a Kenyan and a british subject was not an American citizen.
So as you can see this is the 1st of many lies he has perpetrated.
Do you not up hold the Constitution?

  4. There is conflicting evidence about where he was born. His grandmother's claim that she was present at his birth in Mombasa is documented in sworn affadavit by a witness. Pennsylvania Democrat Phil Berg submitted that affadavit to U.S. Supreme Court. One need not speculate on why some adult in 1961 might have wanted it to falsely appear that Obama was born in Hawaii to understand that the evidence made public so far does not establish even a prima facie case that he is a natural born citizen. The Democratic Party failed our nation miserably by allowing their ballot line to used by someone whose constitutional qualification was not assured. As best I can tell, my wife and I had to provide more birth documentation to get our sons on a little league team roster than the Democrats or Republicans had to provide to get their presidential candidates on the ballot in all 50 states. Every Elector, every Member of Congress, and all but one Supreme Court Justice participated in qualifying or swearing-in Barack Obama. Those acts represent an abrogation of their oaths to defend the Constitution. They have thus demonstrated that they are unfit to hold positions of public trust. Here in Maryland, violating the oath of office is specified as a crime. I think we've all been witness to this crime.

  5. It is interesting that after all the commotion of an illegal Presidency after 2000, also involving Constitutional arguments, we are having such a discussion again. However, then, there was no hesitation to deal with it head on, but here there are things that would be easily obtainable that would easily put this all to bed - yet, instead, there is a ridiculing of those who ask the question and provide masterful misdirection. If a sitting President is Constitutionally illegal, no matter what his race, it is not racial to enforce the Law of the Land and ensure that the head of State is subject to our own laws. To abrogate this is to take us back to prior to the Magna Carta. And, that is not just hyperbole - it is a logical conclusion to the situation at hand.

So, for all of the hype surrounding this, what is the big deal to produce this simple document?

  6. I have poured over countless court decisions regarding the meaning of "natural born citizen". There really is nothing definitive. Beyond that, it is highly unlikely that ANY judge would overturn Obama's legitimacy to be President. That would throw our country into chaos. We have enough of that already!
